Specializing in platinum and gold handmade creations, remounts, repair and restoration of all manner of jewelry, and unique problems such as mating wedding bands to antique rings.
My name is Barry Evan Russ. I was born in Atlanta on November 15, 1955. While many people struggle to find what their strengths are and where their hearts are, I never have.
My strengths and loves have been clear as a bell from the moment I was born. All my life, I have been an artist. I could draw before I could speak. I could sculpt before I could walk. All the classes I have ever taken, and all the craftspeople I have ever met have all been huge influences on me, and all these events and decisions funneled down at the end of the day into one thing: Creating high end fashion design jewelry.
I compare myself to a fine Cuban cigar maker named May Rosa, who was exiled by Castro and opened a shop on 16th Street in Manhattan and never did anything else but make his own brand of cigars. He refused to give the world his secret to his one-of-a-kind tobacco and sweet wrappers. Like May Rosa, I’ll never be a millionaire doing this. But I have looked at the quality of my work, felt the heart I put into it, and heard the comments of my colleagues and my clients. I feel that perhaps if dedication to craft equated with wealth, I would be rich, because the fact is, I am extremely good at this.
Not only that, but because I can draw, and I have strong fabrication skills, I can create jewelry from sketches on a napkin to the precious jewels on your finger. When I am gone, I have no idea what my life will add up to. I know one thing for sure, that centuries from now, whatever survives of the thousands of pieces that have moved through my hands and under the gaze of my loupe will be held closely, tightly, and lovingly like a precious gift from a distant grandparent.
This website is my life, and this is my work. You now have the information on how to contact me. And to be sure, I would love to have your business.
